Good evening dear friends & readers
This week I passed the age of 34, waking up with a full heart, no hangover & some delightful news to share with you - we are expecting a baby at Eagle Rock, due in September.
This past few months have been a serious time of reflection, excitement, fear, joy, love, wonder & awe. Watching my body change in ways I just never imagined, they say that you never know how good it feels until you experience it & now I am joining the cliché club with that one because it is so true. Our lives are about to be changed forever in the biggest way possible, our dream team of 2 is about to become 3.
I have always felt nervous about the idea of raising children, even though I have very strong maternal instincts since a young age, I have mostly projected those feelings onto animals until now. The idea of raising a human being into an adult who has to navigate this crazy world just blows my mind when I try to contemplate it …. Yet since getting pregnant & leaning into this season of my life those worries have dropped away, I no longer consider how it will be in 10 years. I have been forced to live in the present moment & take each day as it comes, as it goes with pregnancy, you never know what is around the corner. So I no longer have fears about the timeliness ahead of us & i am simply embracing the joy & magical moments of today, feeling this little human inside of me, falling in love each morning that i wake a little more than yesterday.
On the day we came back from a hospital appointment we saw a deer on our land for the first time in 8 years & it made me curious about what this could symbolise for us… here are a few points that I discovered which seem very fitting for our current situation & it made me smile when I read it.
Seeing a deer can hold various spiritual and symbolic meanings depending on the context and cultural beliefs. In general, deer are often associated with gentleness, grace, and a connection to the natural world. They can also represent rebirth, new beginnings, and the ability to navigate challenges with elegance.
I don't want to go on about it too much, I realise that parents & pregnant people become very self centred & it becomes the only topic of conversation but I wanted to share it with you & share my current level of excitement with this new journey & perhaps some of you have some advice for me too….
We had a very cute & cosy bbq party at our place on Friday, the first birthday i havent managed to get myself blackout drunk since i was a teenager, just filling up my belly with delicious grilled meat & in bed before midnight, we went to Caçeres after the weekend for a night, a little city break as a couple, we need to squeeze in as much as this time as we can before the end of Summer.
I'll share some pictures of that with you & i definitely recommend a visit if you are in this part of the world, it is where they filmed the House Of The Dragon, a world heritage city, ancient & full of magic. We loved every step we took around this cute little place & we met some friends for an epic taco Tuesday in the evening & slept on the comfiest mattress i have felt in years, already thinking about ordering one for the months ahead….
Enjoy the pics of me following M around like a paparazzi 😁😁
As for an update about the farm… we have spent the past few weeks cleaning in preparation for the hot & dry Summer & fire season. This means clearing away & burning all bushes & grass & material that dries out becoming a tinder box during those heatwaves. This work is mostly finished. We also had the council come & collect an entire van load of rubbish that we have been storing for years, that was an incredible feeling, the beginning of the nesting phase…
My energy levels are back up, I haven't had any problems so far & i am feeling fantastic so I hope you are all doing great, happy to see the return of the Spring finally & sending you all lots of love.
ps a swarm of bees have moved back into our bee box…. I am happy happy happy
Stay good, friends
Lots of love
